Uzbekistan sets out an energy investment pipeline with signed projects, planned tenders and a 2050 master plan
Uzbekistan’s presidential administration reported six energy projects worth a combined USD 4.7 billion, plans to tender further solar and wind capacity, and a timetable for a National Energy Master Plan to 2050. The update gives equipment, storage, grid, engineering and workforce specialists a current map of the policy and project-preparation pipeline to monitor.
Verified facts
- On 16 October 2026, Uzbekistan’s President reported that agreements had been signed for six major energy projects with a combined stated value of USD 4.7 billion, adding 3,000 MW of generation capacity and 400 MW of energy storage capacity. The report does not identify the individual project agreements, contractual terms or supplier roles.
- The same official report says that six solar and wind projects with a combined 2,200 MW of capacity are expected to be put to tender in the near future. It states that projects should be offered through open competitive tenders once information on land allocation, grid connection and electricity-purchase terms is prepared.
- The administration stated that Uzbekistan will publish a National Energy Master Plan through 2050, with a grid-connection opportunity map planned by 1 March 2027 and the complete master plan by 1 July 2027. These are reported planning commitments rather than currently available connection rights or tender documents.
- The report also sets out stated 2030 objectives for new generation, electricity production, renewables, transmission lines, substations and energy storage, and refers to planned localisation projects for high-voltage equipment, storage systems and wind-turbine components. Targets and policy statements do not confirm a specific project, purchaser, technical standard or local-content requirement.
- ADB’s 15 October USD 200 million distribution-modernisation agreement provides a separate, current investment-programme reference around substations and digital network management. The International Energy Agency’s country profile gives independent context on the need to consider grid, market-design and connection conditions alongside generation capacity.
Horizon view
The strongest commercial signal is not the aggregate investment figure. It is the stated move to connect generation, storage and network planning with disclosed land, grid and offtake information before competitive tendering. Companies can now organise market intelligence around a defined project category and the documents that should precede a bid, partnership or delivery decision.
Commercial implication and next step
Developers, OEMs, EPC contractors, storage providers, grid-technology firms, investors and training partners should build a project-readiness file for each target: named project or programme; sponsoring and implementing entity; current tender or private-contract stage; land and grid-interconnection record; offtake or revenue structure; technology, cybersecurity and performance requirements; local manufacturing, service and skills model; permits and environmental or HSE record; financing, insurance, currency and payment structure; and the official notice or authority that controls the next action. Treat the forthcoming master plan and tender references as monitoring milestones, then rely on the current formal documents before pricing, committing resources or representing qualification.
What to verify before acting
The announcement does not establish an open tender, project package, final investment decision, supplier eligibility, connection capacity, land right, PPA, tariff, local-content rule, technology approval, financing, award, payment, contract or transaction. Energy, construction, procurement, environmental, data, customs, tax, insurance and legal requirements remain project specific and require current competent-authority confirmation.
